Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) is at the forefront of Russia leading scientific schools and research studies. According to an independent rating by the administrative agency RateOR, among all Russian universities scientific achievements, only three Kazan universities rank in the top fifty, with KSMU holding the second position after Kazan State University. Among Russia top medical universities, KSMU ranks third, following the Moscow Medical Academy named after I.M. Sechenov and the Russian State Medical University.
The university conducts training for highly qualified specialists in 40 PhD specialties and 5 doctoral specialties. KSMU has two doctoral Academic Councils in 7 specialties and plans to establish a third Council in 2 additional specialties.
